Before we Proceed

We highly recommend using a VPN when using Kodi. Kodi users have been known to receive copyright infringement notices for streaming movies, sports, and TV shows through various addons. If you would like to keep your streaming habits private, our recommendation is IPVanish - a complete privacy solution for Kodi users. It's also worth noting that purchasing a 12 month subscription will give you two months free.

How to install CellarDoorTV on Kodi

Though you can use Ares Wizard to download and install CellarDoor, we recommend that you use the CellarDoor wizard instead.  The official CellarDoor wizard gives you more installation options.  Additionally, you don’t have to authenticate via a PIN code to download CellarDoor if you use the CellarDoor wizard.

In order to get the CellarDoor TV wizard, first visit http://cellardoortv.com/wizard/ and download the installation file plugin.program.CellarDoorTVwizard.zip.  Then, open the file from inside Kodi via the addons menu, using the install from zip file menu option. After the installation is complete, the wizard will appear in Kodi under the programs section of your addons menu.

For those that are new to Kodi, here is a detailed, step-by-step CellarDoor TV installation guide:

1.  Download CDTV wizard

Open up a web browser, visit http://cellardoortv.com/wizard/ and download the installation file plugin.program.CellarDoorTVwizard.zip.  It doesn’t matter where you save the file on your device, as long as you remember where it is.

2.  Install CDTV wizard

Close your browser and open up Kodi. Then, click addons from the menu on the left. You should now see the box icon on the top left side of the screen. Click the box icon, then click install from zip file from the menu.

Finally, navigate to wherever you saved the installation file (plugin.program.CellarDoorTVwizard.zip) and open it up to begin the installation.

3.  Install CellarDoorTV

After the installation of the CellarDoor wizard is complete, open the wizard up.  Then, select [17.1] infusion – krypton [version] from the menu.  After the wizard is finished installing CellarDoor, it’ll automatically shut down Kodi.  The next time you open Kodi, you’ll be in CellarDoor.

Top CellarDoor TV features

CellarDoor’s built-in TV guide, organized menus, robust sports section, large HD stream collection and Mobdro integration are just a few of this build’s best features.

Built-in TV guide

Cable TV guide emulators for Kodi have been around for a while, but they are sometimes hard to configure and setup.  However, the makers of CellarDoor have configured one for you: iVUE TV Guide.

CellarDoor’s built-in TV Guide: iVUE for Kodi.

iVUE displays both British and US TV show listings.  You can enable or disable the channels iVUE displays by clicking the wrench icon.

If you click a program, iVUE will search through all your addons to see if it can find a working live stream for it.

To open iVUE in CellarDoorTV, navigate to the TV Pro main menu and then press down to open the submenu.  Alternatively, you can also click right on TV Pro.

Either click on the iVUE button or click TV Pro to open up CellarDoor’s TV guide.

Organized menus

The creators of CellarDoor have integrated lists from many different addons into the interface.  For the most part, these integrations make CellarDoor easy to use.  However, the complicated multi-addon movie/TV search feature might confuse people who are new to Kodi.

Fully featured sports section

CellarDoor’s new “Prime Sports” menu grabs sports feeds from many different addons. Additionally, our favorite sports addon Pro Sport is featured in a widget that you can easily get to from the sports main menu page.

CellarDoor’s “Prime Sports” menu links together streams from many different sports addons.

High-definition & 3D streams

CellarDoor has menus that make it easy to explore various addons that offer 4K, HD and 3D streams.

CellarDoor’s 4K movie list pulls in lists from Titan, Pyramid, Quantum, WolfPack, Supremacy, Stream Army, Sky Net and more.

Mobdro integration

Mobdro is an Android app that offers stable streams of just about any TV channel you want to watch.  On CellarDoor, Mobdro has its own button that allows you to pipe Mobdro feeds into your Kodi.

Mobdro caught the media’s attention a few weeks back, and since then Kodi buildmakers have been integrating Mobdro streams into their builds.

Useful utilities

If you run Kodi on your Amazon Fire TV stick, you might appreciate the fact that ES File Explorer and Chrome come pre-installed.

Chrome, ES File Explorer and several other useful programs are available via CellarDoor’s system menu.

Excellent movie and TV widgets

CellarDoor really shines when it comes to integrating plot summaries and other useful info into the interface.  Just click on the movie/TV artwork to pull up a screen that will tell you everything you need to know before you watch.

News ticker

CellarDoor’s news ticker allows you to read news headlines and find out what’s happening around the world as you browse Kodi.

Excellent kids’ area

On most builds, the kids’ section seems like an afterthought, but CellarDoor’s kid’s section is actually quite robust.  Previously, this page was hampered by its overly simplified, art-centric interface.  But now, Kids’ Zone looks and feels like a normal CellarDoor menu page. Also, several new buttons have been added to the submenu bar.

Animated windows

When you click a movie or TV show widget, the movie database info comes bouncing onto the screen.  The overall effect is similar to what Ubuntu Linux looks like when you turn all of the animations on.  Though the window animations don’t add to the build’s functionality, they do look cool.  It’s also worth noting tha these animations didn’t slow down Kodi when I tried this build out on my aging Macbook Pro.

Choose your preferred streaming source

If a featured movie or TV show appears in multiple different addons, you can quickly jump to the next addon if you can’t find a working stream.

Customize everything

CellarDoor features an array of powerful customization features.  You can easily add, delete or change any item on the menu.

Other builds do allow you to change menus around, but few come with as many powerful customization features as CellarDoor.

Here are a few other things you can change via CellarDoor’s settings menu:

  • Enable/disable auto-scrolling
  • Remove floor graphics
  • Enable/disable widgets
  • Switch to a simplified view
  • Switch to one of several pre-configured skins
  • Change colors and fonts
  • Zoom in or out

Areas that need improvement

CellarDoor is probably the all-around best build out there, but it still isn’t perfect.  Here are some features that need improvement.

Rethink the Hypersonic IPTV partnership

In recent weeks CellarDoor has partnered with a paid IPTV provider called Hypersonic IPTV. As a result of the team up, you now have to deal with a login prompt that appears every time you look at the TV Pro main menu page.  There’s really no reason to subscribe to a paid IPTV service, because plenty of free IPTV links are available online if you know where to look.

To disable Hypersonic IPTV get rid of that annoying login prompt:

  1. Go to the apps main menu page and click apps.
  2. Click the addons browser button.
  3. Click my addons.
  4. Click all.
  5. Scroll down to Hypersonic IPTV, then click it.
  6. Select disable.

TV Guide deserves its own main menu page

When you scroll to the TV Pro menu and click TV Pro, the TV guide appears.  So, a better name for the “TV Pro” menu would be “TV Guide.”

Movie search is too complicated

While it is cool that CellarDoor allows you to search a ton of different movie scrapers, the menu that allows you to pick one looks like a confusing mess.

CellarDoor allows you to search for movies and TV shows in several different addons at once, but the universal search menu layout isn’t very user friendly.

Better Amazon Fire TV integration

It is good that ES File Explorer and Chrome come pre-installed on CellarDoor, but the fact that you sometimes have to click the “x” box to close a window means that this build is very difficult to control with the Amazon Fire TV’s remote.

Cellardoor TV’s default menus

CellarDoor comes with eight main menus.  Let’s take a look at each one to find out what they can do.

Movies

If you click on the navigation bar where it says movies, you’ll be taken to a stylish looking movies page that features thumbnails and plot info about various popular movies.

TV Shows

The TV Shows page is a lot like the movies page, only it gives you even more info.  Clicking a TV title brings up an info screen that links out to all its past seasons.  The overall experience is comparable to browsing the TV show section of Netflix.

If you click on the menu bar where it says TV shows, you’ll be able to browse thumbnails of various popular shows.

Kidszone

Previous versions of CellarDoor featured a special “graphics only” interface for kids.  The revamped kids’ section now looks and feels more like a normal CellarDoor menu page. CellarDoor’s designers have also added several sub-menu buttons here as well.

Music

CellarDoor’s music menu page has also gone through a recent redesign.  Before, its widgets lead you to playlists of pop hits from different decades.  Those old widgets have been replaced by new genre widgets.  Additionally, the music submenu now has buttons for Spotify, Soundcloud and other popular music addons.

Apps

This page allows you to quickly take care of or schedule basic Kodi maintenance tasks.  You can also open the CellarDoor wizard from here and switch to a different CellarDoor build.  Clicking where it says apps brings up a list of all the addons on your system.

System

This page allows you to check the weather, test out your internet speed or customize the user interface.

TV Pro

If you’re looking for IPTV streams, this is the page you should use. Its submenu buttons will direct you to all the most popular IPTV addons.  Just make sure you disable that annoying paid IPTV login popup first using the instructions provided above, before you check it out.

Sports

This page has widgets for all our favorite sports addons.  Pro Sport is there, as is SportsDevil, Castaway and many others.

Notable addons included with CellarDoor

  • Bob, Specto and Exodus.  When it comes to movie addons, these three can’t be beat.  Exodus is perhaps the most well known of the bunch.  Specto and Bob are basically Exodus clones that use different lists of stream sources.
  • Pro Sport.  Pro Sport is by far the best live sports addon out there.  One of its best features is its ability to filter through Reddit and pull out links to streams.
  • Metalliq.  Metalliq is sort of an addon for addons.  If you have lots of addons on your system, Metalliq can search through all of them and look for links to streams.

Accessing blocked stream sources

If many of the links to movies and TV shows you click while using CellarDoor don’t work, your ISP could be to blame.

Some ISPs place blocks on various sites that host streaming content.  For example, you won’t be able to access any streams from the popular site known as Solar Movie if you live in the UK.

To gain access to everything this awesome build has to offer, you may want to consider installing a VPN.  You can use a VPN to avoid blocks that your ISP has placed on various sites around the web.
